The lilacs I have don't grow very fast but again, in a different climate they might. I hope to get peas in the ground tomorrow. We have another storm coming in this weekend and it will be a cold one. We need the rain though.

I'm in zone 8a and it was 85 today. Winter isn't over by a long shot but my roses have leaf buds that will get nipped when it turns frosty again. I even saw a lady bug on the roses yesterday.

We just had snow last week here in the high desert and there is some still on the ground but yesterday when I pruned roses I found some had already had leaves growing and the rest are budding out. I guess they are anxious for spring.
