$22 more on 25 new sparkle supreme strawberry plants to replace my 3rd year berries and a heritage blueberry.
Ok... it's a mess because we just moved 3 chicken coops from this space, but here is the new sectioned area of the front. There is lots of space in here.. can't wait to post a pic in...
OMG.. I missed you guys! I had to be offline for almost 2 weeks cuz my satellite was down!! I did so many things in the garden with all that time! I didn't know what to do with my grape bush that arrived during my internet black out... so I hope I did good.
I spent another $88 on fencing type...
hmmm.. what happened??

I did get outside & got started outlining my plan.
I spent well over an hour making it into my TEG personal page and it failed.. I was heartbroken.
So .. I spent another hour doing it on my own web page then I had an idea so I could lay out each plant.. check...
CONGRATULATIONS TOO!!!!
You make me miss the west coast so much!!!
Technically I think it's another 5 weeks before our last estimated frost date. But I don't have to grow many plants so I can protect them if it gets bad for a day or two here and there... or at night only.
IT IS UN-OFFICIALLY SPRING HERE IN THE SMOKIES :D

I have 1.14 acres, maybe 40-50% of it on such a slope that it's not all that useful to us. My plan is to make this acre self sufficient for 2-4 people.. this year I am in HIGH gear to focus on food production. It's lofty especially because I have not in years past had...
It's amazing how much I can learn from one simple thread of real discussion verses hours of reading informational articles.
Now, I know why our melons never work out.. we never get any. I will try this method of only allowing 2-3 melons per vine and then trimming the vine so it does not get...
I'm so happy to be planting!!!
We are 6-ish weeks from the last frost date :( but I don't care!!!! :weee
It's 60 degrees and we are gardening!!!
Today I will plant 4 onion bulbs as a test in an open cardboard box, that I can close/cover or fill with straw depending on the upcoming weather...
Everything did really well. For sure the bags are only large enough for 1 producing plant. While the bell pepper didn't fruit very much.. it continued to produce fruit late into the fall long after all the others in the ground had quit...
This year I have an A frame to use to suspend...
Perhaps this isn't a smart question, I have lots to learn still on the topic but too much to learn at once... a shortcut would be great in this instance.
Before I buy the next seasons seeds... how can I be certain they are not genetically modified seeds? Are there guidelines?
Thank you for posting your beans experience. I've got 2lbs of black beans soaking right now and I was thinking I would fill the jar halfway with beans, halfway with liquid after a nice long cooking cycle.
Also on my potatoes last night, which are SO BEAUTIFUL to me right now because they are...
we opened them tonight... the beans ended up like refried beans consistency and half of them popped... I opened them... they smelled mostly normal I thought, so we tasted them but something didn't taste quite right... and then the smell was obvious as it matched the taste...
so out they all...
Hi Pat thanks..
It maybe a bit of waste BUT.. I just wasted 3lbs of beans and the 8 or so hours it took to cook them AND the canning time on the stove...
so.. I figure better to waste smaller amounts until I get the hang of this
ducks.. thanks, I will try that too.
Well.. I packed up 9 jars of baked beans... canned them BY THE BOOK or so I thought, but I have another failure :(
The jars were practically dry when I took them out, I mean no liquid left in my beans :( :(
I was SO careful... I KNOW I got the headspace right this time. The only 3 things I...
