This probably sounds like a silly question.
But I have a bushel of cranberry beans that I want to can and dry but have never done this with either. I have to hull them out. I can find it in my ball book how to can them but it doesn't say how to dry them.
If I am not mistaken you have to leave...
Yep I've used alum and pickle crisp. Doesn't work on mine. Don't know why I just can keep my dill pickles crisp. They taste good they just turn soft. Any other suggestions?
12 pints of hamburger dill chips.
Rusty how do you get your dill pickles to stay crisp? I have tried so many different ways and mine still get soft. Any suggestions?
Anyone?
Gee I'm tired. I have cut up a bushel of cabbage into sauerkraut. Which is now sitting in my basement in a crock. Canned 6 pints of Indian Relish. Picked a gallon of blackberries today. Tomarrow I'll be hulling out a bushel of diago beans. Glad the tomatoes aren't ready yet.
Punkin,
How long will the kraut canned in the jar this way last? The way I do it now lasts for over a year. This sounds a whole lot easier. Will have to try this.
It is a flour that has several different seasonings in it. Hodgson Mills makes it. You can google it and it will tell you all about it. We use it on so many things.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to make a soil tester. I went to get one and they are $16.00 and I am just to tight to pay that. Thought maybe some of you might have some good ideas.
This is the best discription I have heard. 2 gallons make a peck if that helps. When all else failed I called dad. He's an old farmer. He laughed when I asked him about it. Said I should know. Told him I did but was having trouble explaining.
