Omletta - Hi there!!!
Question on chicken Poo - Cause I have aLOT of it... :ya
How long does it need to compost till it can be used?
I don't have any lying around, but i am using the deep litter method in my coop - come spring it all gets tossed out. Do I need to let it stew before...
Cool - I think I can dig most of that stuff up in the garage... I just don't have a wheelbarrow - I DO have a much bucket and cart - so I could use that if needed......
I have a little wagon thing, thats pretty big (metal) it gets pulled behind the four wheeler.....
What tools do you use in the garden MOST often, or which tools could you not live without (and why?)
As I'm starting out - I don't want to buy things I don't need or won't use very much. And I might not know about or have seen your favorite tool..... I might NEED it and not KNOW it yet! :D...
That what the map said 4b - all I know is its COLD ! :gig
I'll be happy if I make up enough veggies to cover the cost of the order - which shouldn't be too difficult.
Have you tried DE? (Diatomaceous earth)
I've had some success with it...... it doesn't kill them instantly, but they certainly don't like it, and avoid it - and they do eventually die if they get it on them.
:weee
I just ordered from them, well the check is in the mail.... I posted in the veggie forum the list of what I ordered.
They're pretty close to me, so I'm thinking if THEY can grow that stuff, then so can I - we have the same sandy soil!
We have a little grocery type store near our house - they do have some sad looking fruit and veggies now and then. If I find a good potato do I just throw it in the ground? Or wait for it to actually sprout and then toss it in? I have had a few potatos get the little eye thingies on them....
Can mosquito's reproduce in trees?
We only moved here in June last year - and the mosquitos were horrible, mostly around one particular TREE..... the tree looks like there is something wrong with it, it has these little clusters of what looks like dirt all between the branches and stuff -...
I don't like the tires either - left by previous owner - and the weird thing in most still have rims (?) weird.
I just don't know what to do with them, and I figured if I could USE them it would be better than them lying around. The two tires I gave the goat to play with are NEW as well...
Where can I buy those?
There is no garden center or anywhere near me to buy seeds etc... I'm relying on the internet for things I need. The closest place to me is a Walmart an hour away.
I read the method of growing potato's using tires - we have a few tires around here, I just gave two to...
Hi Steve,
Thanks for that chart, what are the numbers on it? (the number of plants that germinated in the test?)
Is there a way to take the soil temp? Perhaps I'll have area's that are warmer than others. I did want to plant my vegies in my back yard.... but thats between the garage on the...
We have the sandy soil (I'm in the sandhills of Nebraska) we just get the cold as well.
Perhaps I can try a plant or three and see how it goes... I'd love to see lavender outside!
Wow Steve! THANK YOU!
The fall and spring mix are a variety of salad greens I believe (kids won't eat it - so it will be 80% all mine - hubby might eat a bite, and the chickens will probably get some)
The carrots are coreless Amsterdam variety - I thought the coreless would be more like what...
Are there any lavender plants that can handle the extream cold and extream heat - sandy soil?
I looked on line earlier - and I could only find varieties for zone 5-8 (or 11?) either way, nothing for 4.
I would LOVE to have some growing in my yard!!!
So far all my horse poo - has gone to the trees around our property.... I hope its doing a little good, and nothing bad!
We only started that at the beginning of winter - so its frozen poo at this point and covered with snow!
