The high today was -14F (that's without the windchill).
Brrrrrrrrr!
A bunch of people at work couldn't get their cars to start today, because of frozen fuel lines/pumps.
I am not looking forward to going outside tonight!
It took about 2 weeks. I let my chickens eat it - there are pictures of them destroying it on my blog. It was really, really hard, so I don't think anyone would want to eat it.
Glad you all liked it! :love
Hi there! :frow
I'm in Minnesota. We've had a lot of snow. It's snowed every day for the past week. I have a small (5 foot high) snow wall built on both sides of my driveway.
The roads are pretty bad. I went to visit a friend in the country today and the road was very, very icy. Lots of...
We had a snowstorm last night.
1 1/2 inches were still on the ground this morning.
Whaa! my garden is dead :(
I posted some pics of the snow garden on my blog
You're using a pressure canner - right?
Just cut up the beans, put them in the jars, add salt (if you want) 1/2 tsp.
Fill jars with water to 1/4 in jar head space. Can at 10 lbs pressure 30 mins? I think but I'm not sure. I'll check my ball blue book when I get home from work, if you want me to.
The best way to put your fears to rest - get a good canning book and follow the directions exactly.
I recommend the Ball Blue Book. It lays everything out and is easy to follow.
Good luck!
Update:
It's hard to believe that the garden on the first pg and these pics are the same garden. What a difference a few months make!

I agree with you about earliness. That's how I picked my tomatoes this year. Last year I tried to grow brandywines and pineapples, but I only harvested a few tomatoes before the frost hit.
This year if it had a short growing season AND it was colorful/tasty I picked it.
