It was really fun to collect glass items. I just glued them together with clear silicone glue.
Now, I'm working on glass plate flowers. I'll post a pic tomorrow. They're even easier to make than the totems!
Have you tried the Blue Moon wisteria? I bought one at the end of the season last year, when it was really cheap. I didn't think it would survive the winter, but it did! -30 F for 2 straight months.
It's HUGE now and really healthy.
Ooo I love so many things about your garden - your brick walkway, the cute fairy, the darling playhouse ...... :clap
I tried to leave a message on your blog, but it wouldn't let me click on the leave a message button. :(
The master gardener's club sponsors a scarecrow contest at the county fair.
I entered this year. The theme was butterfly garden. There are a lot of really nice scarecrows, so I don't think I will win a prize, but it was really fun to make a scarecrow.

You can also freeze them!

3 1/2 cups water
6 or 7 cloves garlic
6 or 7 heads fresh dill or 1/4 cup dill seed
6 or 7 bay leaves
Wash tomatoes; drain...
I have the new edition - I think it's the 7th.
Soil for raised beds:
Compost - he suggests getting it from multiple sources if possible
Vermiculite
peat moss
Maybe the soil you bought had too much nitrogen. Root crops like potassium, not nitrogen.
This might be why non-root crops grown in the same soil are doing well.
Next time try adding bone meal to the soil before you plant your root crops.
PS. I love Mel Bartholomew soil recipe. It's made...
There is a really good recipe for summer squash patties on BYC in the thread What Are You Canning Now?
I made spicy pickled summer squash. It's really HOT!!!
I'm not sure if you want to can any though?
:barnie You guys are so mean! I don't have any tomotoes ripe, or green beans, or sweet corn, or peppers, or cucumbers!
I was 55 degrees here yesterday and today it is 70 - nothing is ripening!
I planted pole beans last year on my run. The ladies ate every leaf they could reach, BUT the leaves on the outside and three feet off of the ground were safe.
It was really fun to watch them jumping for the leaves! And the run looked nice covered with leaves.
