The lotus and the rose are the best flowers to not only ton grow but to see and fill too. So my suggestion is to go for it and you will definitely get good results. Tough a bit hard to grow but need to take that much amount of risk to get the best.

I do not think that the distance will matter so much. If it matters than put the lights as closer as possible and so that the plants can absorb as much lights as they needed ans can grow better.
