It was 32* again this morning. Checked the garden and all of my potato vines were frozen. The leaves were stiff as a board. Checked back later after the temps had warmed and over half of the vines had sustained some damage. I cut off what was bad.
We had a late freeze last year, mid April...
It was 32* here at our place this morning. Just got a batch of rain through here. The forecast for today was 56* and mostly sunny. It's 49* and mostly cloudy. Mark Scirto better check his weather apps! LOL
It is cold today Bay. Only been out to check on the chickies and pick up the...
The channel 7 weather app on my phone says it is 49*, feels like 47* & mostly cloudy. On the daily forecast (same app) at this time it is supposed to be 56* and mostly sunny. HA!
I planted spinach this past fall. It never really started to grow until late winter. When it was almost big enough to harvest, it bolted.
I'm planting more kale, put in some swiss chard and I have malabar spinach sprouting. I've never tried it, but it's a vine that grows well in the heat.
Pulled my turnips & spinach that had bolted. Added compost, coir and worked it all in. Then I transplanted my brussel sprouts, dino kale and put in some swiss chard seeds. I also took off some baby curly kale and planted them. Hope they root.
The potatoes are growing good & the...
It was 75* Saturday morning. Woke up to 40* this morning with a high of 56*. Calling for 32*-34* for the next 2 mornings. We're supposed to be back in the 80's by Thursday. It's like a roller coaster.
If either one of you ever run short of some horse apples, go clean out a stall or load the ponies up in a horse trailer. I could always get mine to drop a pile that way. Seems like in the trailer it was always "watery" and it would splatter everywhere!

I had my first harvest of 2019 today. I needed to move my garlic chives, so I dug them up and split it into 4 plants. I put them in pots for replanting later. I cut off all the tops and brought them in to clean, chop & dry. They sure smell good.
Did some sloshing/slipping in ankle deep muck...
Bee, your garden always looks so pretty. I love how you have all the flowers planted around your garden. I have faith that you will run upon some hay for your garden this year.
We don't get snow very often. When we do, it's usually 6" or less. I have to say, it gets old quick. Then like you said, once it melts, you have to deal with all the sludge until it dries up. I sure don't envy you snow people.
Not much done in the garden today. I did put up a trellis for my...
We ended up with 1/2" of rain today. The severe stuff petered out when it got to us. The sun will be nice, but it comes with colder weather. It's going to be back into the 30's for the lows. :barnie
