I don't mean to be difficult but, actually we do raised beds, I know that I shouldn't worry about them because of that. In the future I will also be teir planting on our hill in front of our house where a lot of yarrow is. I just want to get rid of all of it and be done with it!
I would have to...
Yes, it is much better than just dirt. My problem is the place where it is mostly is where my future garden will be! I want to get rid of it before I plant.

Some people I talk to really like yarrow, but they all have some also. Last year I was soaking the ground for several hours, then pulling then up by the root. I cleared out most of them from a hillside and the crest of the hill. I still have a looong way to go. I have thought about cutting them...
Thanks for the info. I have been digging them up, trying to get the whole taproot if possible. Your way with the salt sounds MUCH easier!!
Yes! They hurt greatly! I have to wear leather gloves and even then sometimes the thorns poke through. I have gotten to where I use clippers to pick them...
I think this is the right place to post. I want to build a root cellar or something to preserve my harvest.
I saw digits post about his carrots, that's kind of what I had in mind. We have TONS of rabbits , ground squirrels, gophers, moles, voles. So I believe that we must line the hole/ditch...
Does anyone have any luffa seeds that they would part with?? How about any other types of gourds?
I am also looking for sunflowers tall and med. I want to help DGD to plant a secret garden with them.

The people that owned our property wanted to make the front look nice after they built so it would sell quick. They broadcast wildflower seed everywhere. I LOVE all the different poppies and several of the other flowers, but.... most of what was planted are white yarrow. I HATE them!! They look...
I think they are some sort of thistle. I think that I almost have them under control this year. DGD and I go around the property every weekend and dig them out. We won't get rid of all as they are wild here and it is very windy.

I thought that our spring was here last week, then we got 6" of snow on Sat.!
I don't think we will be getting anymore, but it doesn't usually warm up here until end of April, middle of May.
Happy Spring Anyway!!:rose:dance

I don
t know if they will last through winter. Honeysuckel grows fast and thick, smells WONDERFUL and is not too heavy. In CA it lasts through winter still flowering.
Maybe you can find out the owners info by searching public records.

I always throw any glossy papers away.We burn all our other papers. We don't have a compost as of yet(soon though) I was always told that glossy papers released chemicals when burned.

Watch out for the driveway. When I was removing roots from four o clocks that a prvious owner planted (this was at our house by the beach) the biggest roots had grown underneath the driveway. I cut them off as best I could and they didn't come back. I think that pulling it out will cause damage...
I didn't even realize what I had written digits:gig
I know what you mean about changing temps. I certainly don't go along with the global warming thing, but temps have been changing for the last twenty yrs.
When we were planning on moving from the beach we almost moved central/northern ID. We...
