i've given my goats the poopies

I had thought I was easing them into the alfalfa - but not. since I've backed way off, their gut has returned to normal (thank goodness). i'm going to have to sell half of them because they're taking down too much of the forage & i'm needing to supplement. that was not what I had in mind. my...

i've given my goats the poopies

I think the oatmeal idea is a good one. by logic, that should work. Bay, you always have such great solutions too. ACV & honey. that's a unique one. i'm going to keep both in my hip pocket for future reference. I've withheld the alfalfa for a couple of days & though their backsides are not...

Breakfest meeting at our local gardening group

i suspect we will see real dr shortages. articles indicate many who can will be leaving the practice as soon as they can rather than deal w/upcoming headaches. i don't see nursing being affected the same way - in fact, perhaps nursing will grow - especially nurse practitioners.

i've given my goats the poopies

bay, I've got a roll of hay available for them, but they just flat won't touch it. i thought i was going to be sitting pretty having all this hay for them this winter & they're showing zero interest. maybe as forage gets thinner & thinner as winter comes they will decide to give it a try...

    Another pie filling question...

I have been on the hunt for fresh lard to use for pie crust. lard that is NOT homogenized (like all of it is in the grocery store) is supposed to actually have nutritional benefits AND make the most perfect flaky pie crust. I haven't yet found a source.

Rounding the corner to the end of harvest

What Did You Do In Your Garden Today?

snow? that's incredible! today, I planted my garlic. first time for me. I was reading that it needs cooler soil temps & that's why it doesn't do so well in Tx. Therefore, we're supposed to plant it deep so the soil temp doesn't get too warm in spring. I planted it 6". we'll see.

Trying to find that secret ingredient in Chili

the cinnamon is such an interesting idea. have to try that. I would be inclined to use a fatter meat product. 95% lean is pretty bare of fat (i'm of the belief that some fats are good). fresh cilantro tied in a bundle & removed when done is good. chili - that sounds good. I need to go to...
