Aww, Steve! Who knew you were such a sweetheart? I'll be looking forward to your posts, even if they are few and far between.:hugs
As for Hoodat, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I'll log in one morning and see that he's back. :fl
Most vets don't actually deal with livestock these days. I doubt they'd even have the vaccine on hand. I know you can buy them at the feed store, but it's usually a vial with enough for hundreds of chicks, so probably not an option. I've never had any of my chicks vaccinated, and never had any...
I managed to get another blog post done today (instead of folding laundry) with pictures of the garden and the animals.

We use untreated wood for our beds and just paint it with a water based paint. My husband works construction and has seen the MSDS for treated wood, he won't let me use it for the beds. The chemicals they use these days ARE safer than they used to be but still dangerous.
ETA- He used plain...
Yes, my twins are fraternal. A boy and a girl. I was hoping for two girls at first, but I'm so happy with the way it turned out. I can't imagine how much bickering there would be if they were the same sex. And thank you, that picture is from 2 years ago, I was 32 at the time. :hugs
He's been talking about it for weeks now, but he finally did it. He mowed another part of the field and put in 16 more watermelon hills. With the hills we already had and the ones he put in the potato patch (after we pulled the potatoes out) we now have about 50 watermelon hills. :th
I hope he...
I went out and watered this morning. It's especially hard to keep the hills that my husband just made for the watermelons moist enough to germinate, those have been getting watered twice a day.
That cake does sound amazing. I'm going to get my friend, the baker, to make it for me (since I can't bake AT ALL) and give it to my 9 year old who hates veggies. Muahhahaha...I'll get some vitamins into that boy if it kills him.
All I know is that it is closely related to dill and they will cross pollinate. Then you get either dilly fennel or fennely dill. I don't like fennel (or anything that tasted like licorice) so I don't have any planted. Good luck!
Our winds have been up to 35MPH for the last couple of days, so I feel your pain. :hugs
I have one tomato plant that blew right over, stake and all. It didn't break, but's it's leaning drunkenly out into the path. Plus, with temps up in the mid 90's, things are drying out so fast.
They really are adorable. Since we have been having highs in the 90's and lows near 80 I have already moved them to the outside brooder, without a heat lamp, and they are doing great.
You can see the dish of sand I give them so that they can take dust baths and get some "grit" in their...
I've never ordered from Myers, but I'm guessing they will change the delivery date if you call them and sweet talk them. You know, "Oh please, it's my daughter's birthday..." Crossing my fingers for you. :fl
