so true on the weathermen. Awhile back they predicted we would get 12-14 inches and it missed us totally. I can only hope they miss one also. I just looked at weatherbug and it says in the low twenties tonight and Monday night. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and ourselves! :fl
I always use hot water to water the seeds, cover with plastic film and put in sunny window until they germinate through the soil. I then "tent" the plastic film until the plants are up a couple inches. Works for me. :dance
We are in the midst of snow flurries here...southwest Missouri...right now and had some yesterday...mid to low thirties since Friday but tonight it is suppose to get down into the low 20's :barnie I have been praying that tonight will not get that low or if it does not for very long as so far...
Pat, I understand but don't think I could wait that long for spring, my kitchen window and dining room table are full of plants just sitting there waiting :tools
I am so jealous of those of you have been able to plant already. Storms here every few days and there is no where for the water to go. Maybe I should look into rice paddies?? :/
I have a Mantis and I love it. Have had it for three years now. It started right up, does not smoke at least, not yet it doesn't. It gets the soil looking just like the ads on t.v. I just finished tilling my garden with the deep litter-method shavings from my coop last weekend. Now there...
Woo hoo, my two quince bushes are in full bloom and the amount of bees all over them is amazing. tons of them.. :bee :woot :bee I am so glad to see them here. I could see/hear but a few last year.
that green netting over the top will keep the birds at bay but other than tight fencing..?? I keep a fence around my garden to keep the chickens out..learned the hard way :barnie Then I lined three sides of my garden with marigolds and zennias. They were gorgeous, I never lost anything after...
it sure will help. I have two large patches of bee balm. Plus lots of wild bee balm in the fields. I was just reading where planting flowers to attract the bees would be helpful. Butterfly bush, daisy, honeysuckle, cosmos, lillies, hollyhocks...there are tons of sweet smelling flowers and...
I see lots of yards with cleome in them. I planted seeds the time they did come up. Lots of blooms, I looked for the seed today but got side tracked with herbs and forgot all about picking up some! :(
Well we went into Home Depot this afternoon ...just for a roll of tar-paper? the roofing stuff? Anyway, I got bored and ended up looking for a discount rack and ended up ..after not finding one...purchasing tomatoes, basil, oregano, cilantro, flat leaf parsley, rosemary, dill, green and purple...
Those are very pretty, I have that white hybiscus, too. I can't even till yet as it won't stop raining! :rant I do have some parsley and basil in my kitchen window as I am so impatient :tools
Oh, my goodness, I absolutely love Cleome! They are tall, about 3 ft or so and have these long spikey like stems that stick out all over...they are soft though and huge clusters of pink flowers. I used to hear them called spider plants because of the thingys that stick out. Very, very pretty...
Steve, since you have grown both kinds which did you prefer and why? How did you use it? As a novice I would like some opinions as to how others use it. thanks
