They are probably Asian lady beetles. They're different from the good kind that hang out in the garden and eat aphids.

1) Do not plant all the beet seeds at the same time.
2) Do not plant all the onion sets at the same time.
3) Change my sleeping habits to nocturnal so I can snipe at deer all night with the pellet gun.

I'm curious if the fruit has adverse effects on chickens as well, especially since mine girls have eaten a bunch of it. They are all still alive and well, but maybe long-term is bad?
Not sure about your area, but if you can get some organic garlic at a grocery, it will work just fine. (Has to be organic so that it's not sprayed with a spoiling retardant). This works really well with shallots too and much cheaper than ordering & having it shipped.
