Are there any plants that I need to worry about being toxic to the chickens and the ducks. Like tomato vines? I have a 2500 sq ft garden and 19 chickens and 4 ducks that I will be turning loose in the next 4 to 6 weeks. It was my plan to let them have the garden until the end of march when I...
I make pumpkin butter and it is soooo good. Sometimes I will then mix it with cream cheese to make a spread for my bagels. When I gave a jar to a friend she started mixing it in her oatmeal. I haven't tried it but she said it was amazingly good and tasted like fall.
What we don't eat I leave...
I have chickens and ducks also - I can't wait for the ducks to lay for holiday baking. They are 3 to 4 months old now. The chickens range from 16 months to 22 weeks. The new girls are starting to lay.
I have a recipe for a holiday biscotti you may like. It has an excellent flavor...
My boyfriend just got me a pair and I want to know what to expect. They are supposed to be organic and the seller provided a special fertilizer to use once per year. They are cold hardy outside to 20 below. Supposed to produce 6 pounds of berries per plant per year for at least 15 years. You...
They are just staying green so far. Also the pic on the plant tag from the store shows them green. I had a friend tell me they were probably anehiem (sp?) chili peppers.
I love the pics of Ron's red chili peppers - can I use some green and dry the rest after they go red at the end of the summer?

Thank you. I am heading out to drive the posts and pull them up with rope. They are planted in rows. So t-posts at each end and may be one in the middle. Rows are only about 12 feet long.
I'll let you know how it turns out.

I asked him to bring the root ball. It was a partial root ball really - maybe just 1/3 the soil it should have had. He did wrap it in wet towels for the drive over. I doubt he will do any thing different with the cherry tree. He says it is at least twice the size of the nectarine. He didn't...
I have a friend who is losing his house in a bankruptcy. No one is living there and nothing is being watered. He showed up at my place today with a 3 year old necatrine tree he dug up for me to transplant. I know this is the wrong time of year to do this. Any thoughts on if the trees will...
I would love to do a fall garden this year and am looking for ideas of vegetables to plant late summer/fall. I am in central oregon - zone 5. We start having mild freezes in late August usually. My thoughts have included - lettuce, spinach, carrots, peas, onions, brocolli, cauliflower...
