My Anatolians are 13 mo. and 3 mo. right now. The older seems very trainable and mostly eager to please, though he has his own mind on some things he's still showing himself a good asset. The younger also seems eager to please when she is with me, but when I'm not around she goes back to bad...
My best dogs ever were the ones who chose us and not the other way around. Yes, Jake had a wonderful life here and died on a good day, though he could no longer get around much he perked up when he thought he was going on a walk with his favorite people. That was two winters ago now and we...
I felt pretty bad about it, looked like he was trying to throw up food he had eaten as a pup. But, it did get the rat poison he had just eaten out of his gut so I could bury it. He wretched throughout that day and looked miserable....hard to watch but I was hoping it taught him a lesson about...
Fast thinking! I've had to give peroxide to a dog before and it was pitiful to watch....he threw up...or tried to...all day long. But, it worked and saved his life and us a vet bill.
Nah...a lot of people like that. I found an alarm clock that has silent ticks! :D Battery operated, silent until needed. Love it! I don't NEED silence to sleep but I sure do like my quiet while in bed. It all helps.
No worries....we don't usually care about such things. ;) We laugh at each other and ourselves all the time about it all. Can't wait until you get to see some of the north vs. south conversations....highly entertaining and laugh worthy!
Even that much light can decrease melatonin uptake, disrupting sleep patterns and also decreasing immune, endocrine and nerve function. Think about all the people who regularly sleep with digital clocks, cell phones, night lights, etc. on in their rooms and about the house that cause too much...
Even among the sister site forums, this is the nicest one with the nicest folks. Very helpful, kind to a fault and like a big family....I think you'll like it here. We really love talking to people from different parts of the world, as it's just really cool and it builds our knowledge base here.
It's getting that way here, slowly but surely. Especially now with the WHO calling the shots on disease protocols instead of our own country governing with some common sense.
No worries. I used to belong to a UK garden forum and I was just as lost....the tea and meal times, the different vernacular, the incredible lack of personal freedom(jumped on with all four feet for feeding table scraps to chickens, using a chainsaw without a license to do so~that's not...
Do you live in the US? Far back in the holler refers to living between two mountains that create a deep crevice in between them(a hollow or otherwise known as a "holler") wherein the sun only shines for part of the day, if at all, depending on the tree cover....and there's a LOT of tree cover...
Not sure about where you live~light pollution, perhaps?~but it gets dark where I live. In fact, folks have been saying for a very long time that we have to pipe in the sunlight because we live so far back in a holler. ;) We can see even still see the stars at night!
It just looks organized....wait until everything starts growing, it will be pure tangle and chaos! I just planted all the winter squash and pumpkins all willy nilly and they tend to take over the whole garden before long.
Exactly! My boys and other family think I create a lot of work for myself and they are right....I NEED that level of activity to stay healthy and to get this wt. off me. I have the slowest metabolism in the world, so not only do I have to practically starve to lose wt. but I also have to work...
A few pics of the raised bed I put up this past week for rhubarb and also the asparagus bed, topped off with sheep DL. New root stock planted in both spaces, filled to the maximum spacing.
The rhubarb bed is 20 ft x 4 ft and the asparagus bed is approx. 30 ft x 4 ft. The materials for the...
Can't grow carrots here, no matter how I try. I can grow tops all day long, but the clay prevents root development. I even tried growing them in a raised bed with loose compost and they made all tops, no bottoms. But, besides that, I don't like cooked carrots...just raw ones. :D
That flake of hay seems to be doing something good in that spring...I see definite clearing and changing of the nature of the water. Didn't expect it to work that fast!
Planted the rest of the asparagus today after topping off that bed with sheep compost. Dressed the garden with some epsom...
