i think they are pre-cooked to some extent.
i don't really like the texture of potatoes cut into chunks and cooked in soups and then frozen, but if you get the soup hot enough again they are not too bad, mashed potatoes work a lot better.
overall though they are not things i do often but Mom...
one of the hardest things for us with the clematis is that they like cooler roots and enough moisture and we have full sun and it can bake here at times and we don't get them enough water.
also the deer sometimes will come through and eat them (and one kind the bunnies went after repeatedly).
all the rains so far have just been north of us teasing me but eventually we may get some this morning.
[later edit]
yes, we have raindrops hitting the ground!
i did nap a little bit this morning but not too late as i found out this morning that we were having some friends over for a visit so if i was going to get any weeding done today it had to be as soon as i could get outside. which got me next to the pea shoots for some fresh greens for a snack...
water is a good start, the others involve too much noise or effort, plus it is hot and dry outside you need something to sweat out (which is also quiet).
i cannot blame today's nibbling damage in the peas on the groundhogs, bunnies, etc. yes, it was me, and they were delicious. :)
i was right there weeding that garden and they just lept right into my mouf!
the archaic version of leapt...
i got up to pee, now going back to sleep as much as i can (a few minutes or maybe if i'm lucky a few hours). chances of rain in the forecast this afternoon and then also tonight. we'll see how it goes.
mowing got done, had to take a break to cool off.
only had one thistle plant along the edge where it used to be full of them so my mowing for those few years really did help. yes, i mowed it again (carefully not to mow anything else around there).
while i was over the other (north) ways i...
i'm tempted to raid some pea shoots tomorrow as they have not begun to flower yet, but a few snacks of some greens will be a welcome fix.
other greens coming on that i can find to snack on are dill and some radish and turnip sprouts. the question always is can i find the memory tomorrow when i...
after some thinking yesterday and tired enough i decided to not plant part of the garden i was working on yesterday - the back corner is very sandy and poor soil where the tulips are mostly gathered now - the tulips do well but the beans i often plant over then tend to not do much at all and...
the small creeping thyme is really putting on a show right now. i'll have to get out and get some before and after pictures as it is being blocked by weeds and daffodils. it still looks very nice considering i've hardly weeded any of it since last fall. it will need a lot of work to get back...
are they grafted trees? any sprouts that come from below the graft will not give fruits of the desired type.
otherwise training the strongest main sprout is the way to go, it may take several years before you get much from it.
@ducks4you yarrow will take over... i like it and if mixed with grasses in a lawn it will look nicer during dry spells than what a dormant grass lawn might do, plus the foliage is softer to walk on with bare feet. the downside with yarrow is if you happen to be reactive to it.
the white kind...
the Purple Dove beans that sprouted early in the tomato patch are almost flowering. these are random beans that fell on the ground during harvesting and they sprouted when the weather got warm enough for them. only a few are large enough to flower, all the rest are about as big as the ones i...
