    My container pond/water garden

You should be good to go. With that size water container this season maybe in another a larger container will be needed as the root grows larger. They like soggy wet clay soils under water levels.,Keep water still water lilies don’t like movement. Also there are some efficient fertilizers made...

    Coffee

Cold last week and this week here to. Highs in the 50’sF and if we are lucky a 60F will sneak in. Next week same story. May is a fickle weather month. One day it’s snowing the next it’s 70’F. I just hope we don’t experience another unusual blazing hot summer . I have been down sizing the...

    stubbed toes and mud pies

@digitS’ You are a handy fellow. Your were a tuff flower picker to deal with and very happy you never experienced any accidents crawling up on the top of glass greenhouses. OMG… Cirque du Soleil pays higher rates for doing similar stunts. 😉 I spotted a Douglas fir seedling on top of the...

    Ducks ALIVE in 2025!

Oh how I despise burdock. It’s coming up everywhere in the pastures . I have been mowing very close to the ground to discourage growth . This weed is a seed spreader which comes in on the wind currents during winter storms. But it seems to be getting away from me and the mower. So will spray...

    Favorite pots, 2025, Indoor Gardening

Ducks very nice new heavy pots. With those your practically guaranteed that the wind cannot blow them over. But no guarantee’s against critters. 😉 Just curious next, to the pots … the metal lid strapped to the concrete , is it a container ? Cistern or water? We have a cistern similar that...

Yellow flag iris can grow so fast take up the whole pond in no time. My little pond has fish muddies really just goldfish. Are azaleas a type of rhododendron?

It is amazing the value of spring trees, shrubs and bulbs akin to the PNW. It is always a joyous scene and coupled with a butterfly or two can actually give hope for more to come. Close up pic of the garden dogwood bracts in bloom and rhody’s always attract bee’s .

How do you water your plants?

I use a programmable watering system that can be controlled by computer, iPhone, many devices , called b-Hive. If it rains the weather report is programmed into the system and doesn’t water. The same for drought conditions the program reports if soil is dry or to much water. It takes the...

Are azaleas a type of rhododendron?

Interesting discussion. I never really thought about it that way. Most Azaleas are deciduous, but true Rhododendrons are usually evergreen. Azaleas have funnel shaped flowers. Rhodi flowers tend to be bell-shaped but I think have very similar flower form. All the azalea’s are evergreen in my...
