I do recall my first lesson was on the horse used for show/paying lesson takers. I imagine if I'd gotten to ride that horse every time it would have changed my path. The horse was smart enough to know what was a 'cue' from a rather wobbly rider and what was just a wobble, smooth as glass on all...
Not anymore. My parents purchased for me a greenbroke horse thinking we could "learn together" :3 Before this, I traded stall cleaning for riding lessons and they -always- put me bareback on some barely broken horse for these lessons. I'm very tired of spooking, bolting, rearing, bucking...
You are all so kind. <3 I spent my birthday lifting a hammer until I couldn't lift it anymore. We're residing the house. It is messy, dirty and exhausting work, but paying someone would cost $50,000. >.< No way will I do that when the materials, paint, siding and all is only $5,000!
We're...
I haven't posted for a while. I've harvested the potatoes and the garlic! I'll post pictures at some point, but right now we have a bit of a pickle I'm working on.
Last week, I was watering my potato garden when suddenly a chunk of siding fell off our house! I investigated by giving the siding...
Judge approved her videos! She now has the title--er-- "Novice Trick Dog."
I'm going to start editing her video together tomorrow, and will share it when it's done. :)
There was a break in the weather so I hurried out to try and work with her as much as possible. I have all 15 tricks recorded! I'll probably have to retake some of them for the video, but I'm not complaining!
9/15 Jumping from platform to platform! Great job Sylvia!
I got a few clips of videos for 2 other tricks, but need to get more film for the video. I'm so excited that we're nearly done with filming. There's supposed to be a big thunderstorm so I probably won't have the opportunity to go back...
Went out to film another trick and found Sylvia hunched in the corner of the pen. Her feathers were all fluffed out. She got up when she saw me and waddled over, but was having difficulty walking. Oh no!
When she came closer though, I saw an egg poking out her vent! I quickly raised my camera...
Raccoon was back last night. I slept through it, but my husband says the raccoon tried 5x to get into the big chicken coop. I checked Sylvia, heart in my throat, to find the raccoon had tugged and pulled with all his might at the new improvements, but couldn't get his greedy little hand through...
It was very sad. :( I swear the predators target my favorite birds. If the bird is a jerk and I'm pondering putting it in a stew anyway, that one lives forever. If it's the nicest little thing that follows you everywhere, it's the first to die. :hit
Sylvia is doing fantastic! We have filmed so far:
Fly onto target (Day 1)
Stand on a box (Day 2)
Scratch a Target (Day 3)
We've also filmed two other tricks, jumping over a pole jump and "Bounce" but I need more shots to have a really good showcase of what she can do.
