Anyone Please have advice on trapping an Armadillo?

Thank you for your help. It is starting to sound like shooting it may be my only option :( Just read your link, very scary. I have been replacing the soil, mulch and plants dug up in the area the armadillo has been digging up by hand! I will be wearing gloves and using a hoe from now on.:/

I may have to borrow your concrete critter, maybe that would get him in the trap.

Anyone Please have advice on trapping an Armadillo?

He certainly is doing some damage.:( All my mulch is getting thrown out on the lawn, plants dug up, seeds distrubed, holes dug all over the lawn. It looks like a few hundred land mines went off. I just want to try first and see if I can catch him alive.

Anyone Please have advice on trapping an Armadillo?

I do not want to hurt the little guy. I have a seperate 6 acre property, 65 miles away, with nothing but trees and hay, no flower or veggie gardens. Has a water well, and "The Llama, Jerry Seinfield", who will eat plastic plants, and stands in the water trough, to keep him company. This is where...

Anyone Please have advice on trapping an Armadillo?

Wow, that sounds awesome, and a huge undertaking. :bow I had always dreamed of owning and restoring a historic home. This is my first. If I had the means, I would do a few more! I am afraid I would want to keep them all though. I love and collect Antiques, of all kinds. Right now, I am working...

Anyone Please have advice on trapping an Armadillo?

Lol. Thanks. They really are cute, I am from NYC, so I was amazed to see them for the first time. Along with chickens, they are one of the many animals that make me believe that the dinosours did not become extinct, they just bred down to a more managable size. I read where you are restoring a...

Anyone Please have advice on trapping an Armadillo?

:heI have an armadillo digging up my garden beds. I have a live trap set, I placed it in a flower bed with lots of mulch, that I have watered well, he is digging there, but will not go into the trap. I have put worms in, and bananas, but the ants keep getting anything I put in. I hope someone...

    Show me your Hosta!

Your Hosta's are gorgeous. I want to try some myself. I like the full leafed ones, as opposed to the strap leaf ones. I saw some with pretty little purple flower stalks, they lined each side of a sidewalk, so the flowers stood out as much as the leaves do. Do only certain ones produce the...

Saving Caladium Bulb's-what am I doing wrong?

My Grandma had a poodle that could sniff out any underground critter, and she would dig them up and play with them until they were no more. She only had to dig one hole to get them, she must have been able to figure out when they were in their "den". My Grandma worried she would get bit, but she...

Saving Caladium Bulb's-what am I doing wrong?

So sorry for your bulb loss, lesa and vfem. Lets not get discouraged, and try again, using the wire mesh this time! ;) My first home, I had a horriable Deer problem, they even ate the plants that were toxic! But I did not give up, I sold my house and moved! Just kidding, I only moved because I...

Saving Caladium Bulb's-what am I doing wrong?

I had not thought of the underground critters. Do they still dig from the top to get bulbs, or do they come up from the bottom?

Saving Caladium Bulb's-what am I doing wrong?

I think you are right lesa. I was not sure if squirrels eat caladiums, but I did have a family of squirrels in my attic this year, and I had to have my exterminator come to evict them, there were 11 of them! I even saw a squirrel laying on one of my porch columns, eating pinecones! (I had no...

Saving Caladium Bulb's-what am I doing wrong?

I planted 50 caladium bulbs last April under a shady china berry tree. They were stunning. I dug my bulbs in october, and stored them in my laundry room,in old wood framed and wire bottom incubator trays(they allow air flow and stack up) temperature stayed around 70. When I planted the bubls...
