2025 Little Easy Bean Network - Growers Of The Future Will Be Glad We Saved

The flower shoots of Mongeta del Ganxet Xic are getting larger. I think the flowers will open in three or four days. It seems this ecotype is indeed earlier than other Ganxets.

I'm asking because I've noticed that the plants whose roots I damaged while removing weeds and those heavily undermined by moles are dying. It appears that common beans are very sensitive to root damage at a certain stage of their growth. However, runner beans and limas never died out.

My Schwarze Kugel is a bush with short runners. I got the seeds from Austria. I didn't know there was a pole variant.

I have a Schwarze Kugel this year. It has been blooming for quite a while now and has a lot of pods. Tuvagliedda is just starting to bloom, as is Bonel di Fonzaso. I had all the Tuvaglieddas and of them all, the Tuvagliedda Marrone was the earliest to bloom. Correction, I didn't have the...

I had a similar experience. Succotash is a late-flowering bean, but I ended up harvesting a lot of nice seeds.

@heirloomgal Have you been pulling weeds around those dying beans?

@Blue-Jay, runners have appeared on one of my Blue Jays. I'm wondering if I should remove this plant. Is Blue Jay a true bush bean?

@heirloomgal Graziskiai #1 is a bean from Lithuania. I got it from a Polish seed bank.

This year, due to the forecast of an exceptionally cold May, I did not make seedlings. I wake up the seeds in a sprouter and when they have a solid sprout, I put them directly in the target location. I think this will reduce the possibility of the seeds rotting in the ground and the Delia fly...

Yesterday I put 27 pole beans and 10 semi/half-runner in the sprouter. Next week I will do the same with bush beans. So far May has been terribly cold, now the weather is supposed to change.

@Blue-Jay The description of Fin de Villeneuve on the IPK Gatersleben website states that it is a determinate bush bean. I also wonder if Tres Hatif de Massy from IPK Gatersleben is really this bean. Judging by the description of Vilmorin found on the internet, the shape of the seeds is different.

Tarahumara Bakamina One of two surviving half-runner beans, the second one was Tinker's Fire. The others were washed away by water during a heavy storm. The seeds I sowed came from some original Native Seeds/SEARCH seeds that I got from @saritabee some time ago. I had a very good harvest. In...

Rosso del Cadore from Veneto, Italy. One of the earliest pole beans I have ever had. I picked my first dry pods in late July/early August. Only Lengua de Lobo can match it. Murusieddu Nero - pole from Sarconi, Basilicata, Italy. This bean, like Panzaredda, was grown in a place that was too...

The Zazza seeds I sowed looked similar to the ones in the picture. The colors were already oxidized. A year without a fridge or freezer is enough for this. Great! Thank you @Triffid. We will discuss the details in PM.

@Triffid, I don't feed my beans with anything special. Before sowing, I give nitrogen and potassium to the soil and later, when the plants have grown a bit, magnesium sulfate with microelements to the leaves. I guess I won't get a Michelin star for this :) The exact weight of the Zazza seeds is...

@heirloomgal, the purple color seems to be similar to Lucie, but I'm not 100% sure. I would have to take the seeds out of the freezer to compare.

Zazza - pole bean from Val Camonica, Lombardy, Italy. Very productive, from two plants I got almost 2 kg of seeds. Panzaredda - pole bean from Sarconi, Basilicata, Italy. It was growing in too dry place and most of the seeds are smaller than they should be. Barba di Frate - pole bean...
