What kind of squash have you grown? Or thrown into your compost? Looks pumpkin-ish to me, but I know there are many types of round summer and winter squash. This years volunteer in my compost looks to be a butternut squash, even though I haven't grown any or bought any from the store.

Looks like ground cherries are Physalis peruviana while tomatillos are Physalis philadelphica. Related, but different species

Thanks @Ridgerunner. I should add too that right now they are green, like unripe pumpkins and maybe 6-8 inches long for the biggest ones. The plant is loaded with flowers too.

Every year I get a few volunteer squash plants in my compost pile. I normally let a couple grow to see what I get. I love black cherry tomatoes. I found it a few years ago, no luck this year. Looked everywhere. Next year I am going to start some from seed, to make sure I get what I want. They are probably my favorite cherry tomato. For regular tomatoes I like mortgage lifter. They produced well and tasted great.

I've found not all sweet potatoes will grow. I look for ones that have growth already. Usually small bumps, sometimes the tips of vines started. On ones I haven't seen at least tiny bumps have rotted. I would start at least a month before it's time to plant though, some of them can take some...

Looks like what my mom has growing on a tree in her yard. It was there when she moved in. I think it's wintercreeper, at least that is the conclusion I came to.
