I like the fancy trimmed stuff, as long as it is done well, not tiny lollipops on top but nice big ones, square hedges, and my favorite the gumdrop trees on a stick :) It would look out of place here, but can look nice in "fancy" places.

That would really creep me out, even if it is outside. I agree, get a cheep portable game cam and set it up. Once you find out who it was you can always use the camera somewhere else.
