Yes, this is her only spot. I was thinking the same way. Veggie roots don't go so deep that they would actually grow down 8" and through the cardboard. I just didn't want to take a chance advising her to do it without consulting everyone here first.

Yes, I purchased romaine and red sails lettuce plants. From what I'm reading they are very cold tolerant but I had hoped to get advice from the wise people here :-)
