Catalina, tell me more about your columbine. Was it grown from seed or plants? Where do you have it planted (shade)? What are its water needs? I don't have any luck with columbine, but it's one of my favorite wildflowers, so I'd like to know what I've been doing wrong.

I think it depends on where he hatched out. Remember, they start as tadpoles, so if he was in a contaminated pond, it's likely that that's the reason he has a gimpy leg. I definitely think it's a deformity and not an injury.

Another tip: if they are just starting to flower, you may not have any female flowers yet. They start out with a bunch of male flowers, then the female flowers follow a little later. There are also more male flowers than female flowers.
