    A Seed Saver's Garden

Spent the whole evening thinning seedlings and transplanting the selected ones to larger pots. Feels great to be done! Looking at my Physalis peruviana seedlings I'm reminded of how important it is to not let them sit too long without transplanting. The ones in the yogurt container were just...

Those are amazing lights! I didn't realize that there was adjustable settings for brightness, wow. Something to think about for sure as a future investment. The jimmy rigging of raising and then lowering my cell packs to the light is always a problem.

Sadly, they aren't. But! Luckily these packets are pretty full. I think they used a small scoop to fill most of them so I taped shut the worst packets and will have to accept the bit of loss. I'm thinking scoop because the bean chaff in here is wild. Some of the beans are wrinkled little...

The journey with my last big bean order of the season ended with a comedic flourish. I can't begin to describe the hiccups along the way to get this parcel here, it's been an interesting ride. I was astonished to see that when it finally arrived at the door the 50 or 60 bean packets were not...

    A Seed Saver's Garden

My old pepper seeds are all sprouting so well, I can't quite believe it. They have been pokier than the old tomato seeds, but they are coming up with near perfect germ rates. Wow. My basement is chilly at floor level, cold enough that I need a thick pillow to sit on to file stuff down there...

How on earth do you keep the panels so pristine white in a greenhouse!? I can barely keep my wood surfaces in mine from looking like a mechanics shop.

My bad, it was King of the Garden I was thinking of that's a lima bean. https://victoryseeds.com/products/king-of-the-garden-pole-lima-bean Wow, I have no idea what that bean is then. It actually looks quite like @Blue-Jay 's 'Candy' bean, which is a semi. I'm not sure from the photo if...

    A Seed Saver's Garden

A lovely day of planting. ☺️ My first time ever of growing a large variety of alliums from seed, I did several jumbo cell packs of them. Most of the packages indicated they need cold stratification so I put them in the sun room. I tried a packet last year and nothing sprouted, but I kept them...

I've grown most of those @Heliena, except Shirazi & KOTN. I think King of the North is a lima bean. Skunk & Khabarovsk are really nice producers. Love those big ole beans! Amethyst I believe was probably logically named by someone who knew the origin of that bean, but its name is actually...

Seedlings! One chartreuse leaf variety this year, in a micro dwarf! 'Tigret Yellow'. The 'Indigo Orange Supertruss' tomato already showing its purple anthocyanin genes! A picture of happiness. That lone little noodle neck is the LAST seed I had of 'Damskie Palchiki' tomato. One seed, and...

I grew them as network beans last summer and failed terribly. I could not get it to mature, even with starting early in pots & picking the pods off before a frost in October and letting them dry indoors. The pods were just so immature for me even in October when I brought them in. I'm...

    A Seed Saver's Garden

My gladiolus arrived today! That was quick, and the lady who sent them to me is a really lovely seed friend so she included another gift bag of corms called 'Evergreen'. Awe, I really appreciate such a sweet gesture. They're all so nice and wonderfully healthy, lots of girth and weight to...

    Your Weather, 2026

Me too! At least it's above freezing here, not by much (40's in F), but it's better than the 30's. No sunshine though; it's raining unaffordable gas prices. 😂

This is very interesting. I tried to call them on the phone today too, and it won't connect. No ring or sound on the other end. It's seldom I call the US so I don't know if it might be an issue with my long distance provider, but I called Bill Minkey a week ago and reached him no problem, and...

I'm in the midst of having the most nightmarish experience with a Sandhill Preservation order for beans seeds. I don't think I'll do this again. And it is so hard to get a hold of them through e-mail. Thus far, almost nothing has worked out and tonight I found out the tracking number they...
