I would think so. Worth a try. My cucumbers produced like crazy last summer, despite being in full Texas sun. However, they were pickling cucumbers - that might make a difference.

Yes, I agree. I lost most of my purple hull pea crop to rats last year, until a feral cat moved in. She stayed regular. I'm cashing in on rat control in the garden and around the chicken yard, but the flip side is chick loss. Net positive, just have to be vigilant regarding predator proofing.

I envy you such thick-walled peppers. Temperature and relative humidity must have considerable effect on those qualities - or so I've thought over the past years of trying out different peppers.
