I would love to hear the mourning doves all day!! I LOVE the sound they make...guess it triggers a childhood memory or something I remember as being pleasant.....
I check my flock each night just after they roost and again just before I go to bed around 10. Last night I thought I would take the scraps to the compost pile on my way to check the chickens.
Our scraps go from the kitchen sink to a bucket out on the back porch and then.... to the compost pile...
OK...POKE is a green...a wild green that people around here pick....old timers mostly.
I live in South MO, but poke grows all over I believe. They are the plants that poke berries come from?? Those purple berries the indians used to make dye thousands of years ago??

We too have the same problem...trees and clay soil. So we began by making raised flower beds and adding good black dirt that we got in the woods...Lots of 5 gallon buckets! :rolleyes:
OH yes...and cow poo added to it a year before planting ...just let the cow poo age in a compost pile for a...
