That's great Chicken_Boy! I never heard about this method until after I planted all my seeds. :idunno
Are they all supposed to really help each other? I could understand about the beans supplying the corn with plenty of nitrogen, but what about the squash?
Love to see photos :D
Gardening is a new experience which is literally growing on me. I'm so new, and learning every day! A few weeks ago I grabbed some (more like a lot!) of seed packets of what I wanted to experiment with and planted them in a perfect area.
Being new, I had no idea what was a weed and what was a...
Completely newbie here also, :P but I heard that putting beans (a plant that puts tons of nitrogen into the soil) around nitrogen sucking plants like corn will help a ton.
I know your asking for what NOT to plant next to each other, but this website should show you what is okay.
Here's a...
The tree is beautiful, Reinbeau and the same with your.. knot garden? That's what they are called?
Anyways, it's very simplistic and very formal. :clap What do you plan on putting in there?
I've never seen Forest Gump..:hide I'm ashamed!
Well it is kind of amazing how people can figure out how to combine things. You never know, it might turn out to be delicious! But I think Zucchini ice cream just wouldn't work haha.
But I think the cascading bean vines would be absolutely beautiful. I think any bean could do the trick. I'm thinking of just putting a bush bean in there and having it kind of fluff out.
Basil would be a good one to do because of the natural flavor. :) & The website you posted was great!
It...
Cookie, just a small suggestion. Right now I have a doe with a litter of 9 (wow!) and two of her does from a litter she had before. Along with a buck that runs around in the coop.
On to the suggestion, I only put the buck out in the coop (or bucks in your case, i think its safe as long as they...
I just purchased a Topsy Turvy a few days as well. I'm excited. :)
I read somewhere that planting something that gives off a lot of nitrogen is excellent for the tomato plant and will do better than without. The only thing I would be worrying about is if the pepper plant got too large and was...
Really? Snakes are great pets, and they feel so smooth. My boyfriend has an endangered snake speciec called the Indigo. They are supposed to be the largest non-venomous snake in the US. I guess it's because it either doesn't kill the prey as quickly or it swallows it the opposite direction so...
This is my first year gardening, and I'm going to probably plant a lot more than I can eat. Just in case something happens to my plants, or I get too little.
I have a family of 4, and my boyfriends family of 8 to feed off of these vegetables. (I'm there a lot) I also have rabbits, chickens, and...
Thanks! Seriously, everyone else does sports and school activities. When I used to tell them I had chickens they would give me this look like (you can have them as pets?!) Of course. We don't live in the city city, but we don't leave in the country either. We are in between. Most teens wouldn't...
Wow, thanks everyone.
Jeez Steve, you wrote a novel to me haha. But I appreciate the help. I'm not going to take anything TOO seriously, but I do want a good successful first crop. :)
Lauren, I tried to find what "color" I am but I'm not 100% sure. Haha. I believe I'm yellow or orange?
Oh, I completely know what your talking about. We are putting up 4 ft. fencing around the perimeter (forgot to add that). The chickens and ducks have their own seperate living quarters which is rather large and they have plenty of space. I don't let them roam freely (I wish) due to the cats...
Okay, okay. Hi everyone! :frow Super brand new to TEG, and found it through BYC. First let me tell you all a little about myself.
I'm currently 17 years old and live near Seattle, Washington. I love animals, and have tons of them. Not all of mine, but.. I have 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 parrots, 2...
