Wow! that is quite a yield.Unfortunately my Vegetable plot is not that big and no room to expand so I only grow things I can definitely use and the Potato patch is as big as I can make it. I am also growing organically,so when I cut the Seed Potatoes I let them callous over before planting,I...
My 2 granddaughters can't wait to "help me" in the Garden:rolleyes:I am planning on putting in a larger Potato Patch this Year.I noticed that you plant your seed Potatoes whole, I have always chopped mine so that each piece has a couple of Eyes. My Dad was English and that's the way He always...
:( The Earwigs are out in full force,Leaves are being chomped to bits. I am going to try Neem Oil to see if that will stop them.Fingers crossed it works.
Mine are doing great in S.W Ontario :) but the Weather has been really hot for the past few Days, how does Celery fare in Heat.? I have 4 Plants going from this method, I hope they all make it.
:D Got all my Dahlias planted.today. I pre sprouted them and they got quite large so I bit the Bullet. The Weather forecast is great from here on ,so I think they will do really well.I can't wait to see those beautiful Blooms again, unfortunately neither can the Earwigs.:/
I have a quick question about planting the Celery after it has sprouted. Are there any Roots at this point,or do the Roots form after they are planted in the Ground?
I worked very hard Today and extended and widened my Veggie Patch,so it looks as though I might manage to rotate after all,if I have enough energy that is.
We had 20% Temps Today, most unusual for Ontario at this time of Year. Thanks for the suggestions though.
Thanks for the confirmation. My Veggie Patch is not very big and I was hoping I could get another crop from the same location, but your explanations as to why not makes a lot of sense.
I have a Newish Vegetable Garden, planted for the 1st time last Year. A large area was used for planting Potatoes. My question is, do I have to rotate my Vegetables this Year? My Potatoes were fabulous last Year and I don't want to take any chances if I should be planting them in a different...
:)Thanks Rusty,do you have a catalogue or something where I can see what you have for sale? The weather here in Ontario was 16% yesterday and just beautiful, sure makes my planting fingers itchy, but I know it's waaaay too early.
I have this Dahlia and it is a beauty.I am very bad at labeling my Dahlias so I have to wait to see which ones I have have :rolleyes.
I have moved House and my Garden is quite a bit smaller than before. I get a lot more Sun now,so I am looking foward to getting more Dahlias.Rusty do you have...
The inverted Coffee Can idea sounds great,I think I am going to give that one a try.Unfortunately I don't have any Chickens, but I am sure I will find a way to dispose of the pesky critters, they are such horrible looking things, YUK!
Haven't been on here for a while, but have a question for Rusty.First of all your Dahlia's are absolutely stunning, you've got me all fired up to get more.
I pulled my Dahlias from storage and they are all looking very good,no rot or dried up Tubers. Should I start them in Pots now in zone 5...
WOW!! Your Lilies are beautiful. My favourite Flower by far. I moved House and thought I would add some lilies to my Garden this Year. So far so good although I did find a few Lily Beetles early on.I picked them off and have been treating the Plants with Neem Oil. So far so good, I haven't seen...
