Lesa, I saw your garden when I was researching them several weeks ago and I thing it is great. Please post some more pictures of it this year as it fills out. I'd love to see how it is going.
Thank you both for your response. Life has been so busy that tonight is the first night that I have gotten back online to check my posts. I'm real excited about my new tea garden and I will post some pictures when we get it planted in a few months. I was wondering if the flowers were not real...
I am planning a tea garden for this coming year. My favorite hot tea is chamomile. I would like to know how much those of you who have grown it before suggest I should plant. I have raised gardens, but do not have unlimited room in them. We live on a hill in nw Ga, I have room on the hill to...
Thanks Ridgerunner!
Those antigua look like mine. Thinking back about it, the black beauties are some I sowed from seeds, but they have grown very slowly and have not even produced any flowers. We bought 2 older plants from a garden center and that is what I am getting the fruit from.
I'll...
Do you then bake them with the meat mixture? Or precook them meat then loat it on the egg plant? It sounds good!
I stir-fried mine with squash and zuchini-it was good, but not great.
Then I will treat them like squash and pick them early. Thanks for the input.
This is my first time growing egg plant. We have 2 plants that each have a bunch of blooms and egg plants about 6-8 inches long. I was only expecting to get 1 or 2 off of each plant. I think the type I'm growing is black beauty. Right now the fruits are smooth with light purple and white...
Just for fun, we are going to plant these 2 bean my mom-in-law gave us. They have the words "good luck" on the outside and when they grow the same words are supose to be one either the stem or one of the leaves (I'm not sure which one.)
This should be interesting!
I'm so excited after reading all this! My garden is pretty full this year, but that just means I have all summer to plan and research for next year. Thank you all for all the suggestions and the links to other posts.:D
Can't blame you for bragging. I'm telling everyone I can about how great my garden is doing this year! I ate a salad last night with my romain lettuce and loved it.
I've got lots to learn.
I'm going to try to cut them off at the base, leaving the roots and hopefully they will grow back, if not I've got some more growing that are too small to harvest and I will try just taking the outer leaves on them.
Thanks so much for your help!
I will certainly pass on the anchovies!
I guess I will have to refine my choices of lettuce next year. We buy romaine at the store because it will last longer and is more affordable than the bag lettuces. My goal next year is to order seed from a seed catalog, not just pick and choose from...
I am growing some romaine lettuce for the first time and I think it is about ready to harvest, but the leaves are still a little loose, but they are nice and dark green. My concern is that the main vein that runs down the middle of each leaf has some spikes on it. They are not real stiff like...
