    Planting potted lilies

So, my husband wants to take my potted Asiatic lily and plant it in the ground. Normally I would be all for that!! This time.... not so much! I can SEE the bloom buds forming, and we're probably.... 2-3 weeks (?) before blooming. I told him that it would be a bad idea to transplant them right...

    hibernating mulberry tree?

So, we've had this mulberry bush (tree?) for a few years.I think we put it in the ground in spring 2010. We used a fertilizer spike on all the trees this year. Out Apple trees have already leafed out, and have fruit that have started to set. The mulberry on the other hand.... hasn't done...

    Help planning flower bed

So, we ARE tearing out the boxwood shrubs out front (i think that's what they are!), but I have a question about that. If we simply cut them off art the ground will they come back? I'm not sure how we would actually get them OUT. They've been in there since the house was put in and I'm afraid...

    Well crap...

So... remember how we planted early?? Well, we covered the tomatoes really well... but some neighbor kids were traipsing about egging houses and tore down the sheeting over the tomatoes... and lost them. We didn't cover the cauliflower, broccoli, or brussel sprouts and lost them too!? What the...

    Rose suggestions

Okay, so, I have a small-ish space that I want to put roses in in the garden. I'm not sure of the exact dimensions, but I'm going to guess around 5x8?? maybe a bit smaller. I would like BEAUTIFUL roses! That smell good... and are pretty... and will attract bees and beneficial bugs... and I...

    Transplant?

So, in my flower bed that's beside my steps, I planted some daffodils and irises (I THINK they're irises! I'm not remembering 100%) Well, I'm going to put some boarder around the flowers, but some of the irises have grown past the point where I want them to. Do you think I'd be okay to split...

    Took a HUGE risk today!

We planted our tomatoes! The 10 day forecast is saying above freezing every night, but we do have things to cover them with if needed. They were growing over the top of our lights and they were beginning to get a little leggy too. I sure hope we didn't screw up by putting them in this early!

    Over fertilized potted lemon tree?

So.. we took the plunge into potted lemon trees. Hubby bought a potted seedling, maybe a year old, from a woman at our local farmers market a couple of years ago. It's doing okay, not real bushy or anything, still hasn't flowered so no fruit as of this year. Well, I was watching a video on...

    Harvesting asparagus

So, last year we put in some asparagus crowns. It said that this year we could harvest sparingly. How do you know what "sparingly" is? If you don't harvest it, it goes to seed, so what are you supposed to do with it??

So, I was just wondering, can you plant onions and garlic together in the same bed? We've already got our garden MOSTLY planted for this year, but, I'm trying to plan for expansion for the garden this year (hopefully), and I was thinking along one side I could plant garlic, onions, and...
