That's great! I hope they made lots of tubers. I'll certainly send some Penhill Dark Monarchs to you in the spring assuming they've had a happy winter. You are a busy guy and I hope you have a good rest this winter and, if you have someone else to keep an eye on the animals, a little while to...

I'm one post short of some sort of user privilege, so here's my 10th! Just dug up my dahlias and will be wintering them all over metro Boston. It worked!

We had a frost a couple of days ago, so ahead of it I cut the flowers I had and brought them in. Here are some of them: 3 Penhill Dark Monarchs Mackinac Islands (with some salvia) a few on the windowsill with Mackinac Islands, Posicle Toes, and a paler-than-usual Mazama Thanks again...

Here's a Lady Darlene (about 6" diameter) and for the first time I have Penhill Dark Monarchs blooming (they're about 8"). These photos were taken 5 days ago; they are a little bigger and more open now.

The first Mackinac Island bloomed a couple of days ago. All four plants have lots of buds. I'm so pleased and appreciative, Rusty.

The Mackinac Islands planted in early June now all have their first buds. Probably 2 weeks until flowers. I am feeding them Alaska Morblooms.

4 Mackinac Island tubers planted on June 4 in Lexington MA; three sprouted yesterday and the fourth today. I have them in protective custody, which is to say surrounded by a cylinder of hardware cloth attached to two bamboo stakes. It protects them from chipmunks and bunnies who got through...

    Dahlias

Rusty, I'd be happy to send you a tuber (as a gift). It looks like we'll have a frost tonight in the Boston area (actually it's snowing on October 27 here; we're all freaked out). So sometime next week I should be able to dig them up and see how many there are. Then they get to winter over in...

Thank you so much! I've just looked at other photos of Lady Darlene and you're right, there's no doubt. I used to get my tubers from Connell's before they closed and they must have sent it as a bonus tuber because I never ordered one. I have to stay, it's spectacularly hardy. One of my...

This is the dahlia I'm trying to identify: 5" or 6" informal decorative, I think, yellow petals tipped and edged with red -- does anyone have a name for it? Thank you.

I'm trying to figure out what type of Dahlia this is (I'm hoping this shows up as my avatar. Otherwise I'll have to haul in tech support during a commercial on the football game he's watching-- so I may be back again soon). It's what I think is an Informal Decorative type; it's generally about...
