The older I get
the more I agree.
Hi, all my good friends! Still alive and kicking. Just not so much in the garden yet and my yards show all the neglect.
So Cute!
I'll have to look for Seymour. This friendly gorilla was my class mascot for many years. He even had a place in each year's class composite picture. His proper name was Seymour Talkless and he enjoyed being read to by my students. He also enjoyed his work as a "companion animal"...
Husband learned that when he mistakenly messed with his wif'e's plants she ranted and nagged at him. He also learned that when he mowed one down accidently, she gave him the silent treatment.
It was worth the extra effort.
Sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers and condolences to you and your family at this time.
We become so much more than fellow gardeners here, more like family.
Wow, I have been gone awhile. Your son is growing so big and I missed the excitement of that precious littke one entirely. Belated but heart-felt congrats!
You will so-o-o enjoy those fuzzy critters! I may wait until next spring for chickens unless daughter-in-law wants to share the work. I have been traveling between Iowa and Wisconsin too many weekends to do babies.
i love the rabbits and chickens living together! i used sheet metal to funnel the rabbit manure into containers so i could use it whenever i wanted. the chicken bedding/manure i put into a fallow garden bed to compost, cool down, and be used - in spring ammended beds only - the next year.
works for the personal or small sized melons. i still prefer a safety net of mesh or old nylons for the big varieties.
ive had larger cantalope plants climb up and set fruit to hang down through 2x4 pig fencing with no problems until ripe. [mine are mostly slip-stem types]
phooey! 5-7 inches of this that and the other thing. ive promised to go driving in the worst of it. NOT looking forward to tomorrow.
GOD will be handling the shoveling this time.

missed you all here as well, but getting nothing done in the garden for the past 3 years made coming here rather self-hurtful. lots has been happening here and im hope im finally ready to get playing in the dirt once again.
