Bay, I cried when you told me about BJ. I'm so sorry this happened. I will continue to pray for you & your family. Stuff stills tastes salty to me. Makes ya wanna gag.

    New to Texas

Welcome! We have an aerobic system. DH loves it, I hate it. Makes a mess in the yard. The stupid sprayers are always getting stuck and you have to fix them. You still need to get it pumped, every couple of years or so. The bladder in the air pump are prone to breaking, usually every 3 yrs or...

    Elderberries

If anyone buys elderberries for planting, try and get American Elderberries. They don't have the cyanide problem like the European ones do. I planted mine this year, and sadly only 1 put out 1 stem of berries. I did order some freeze dried ones online and will make a cordial out of it for...

    Pantry thread

A lot of houses these days aren't built with a pantry. Used to, every house had a pantry, and usually a large one.

I'm using shelves like those myself. I have them in an extra bedroom. I'll get pics and show them. Do you have liners on the shelves? I have liners on one and cardboard on the rest. Makes it easier for me to slid them in/out.

    What are you canning now?

Not canning, but dehydrating red/green Marconi peppers. Also some sweet onions.

    Baymule’s 2021 Garden

I've got my second batch of red marconi peppers in the dehydrator now, along with some sweet onions. Once I have several red ones, I go ahead and pick all of them to dehydrate, so it's a mix of red/green. @flowerbug - I know how your Mom feels. I don't like hair hanging in my face or down my...

    Price increases and shortages

DD works at Walmart, the biggest one in a town with 3 of them. She said hers is always out of meat. Usually some chicken left, but hardly anything else. I go to the smaller Wmart of the 3. Plenty of meat there, but the tp has gone up $2 for large pack. I haven't bought any in a while, but...

    Baymule’s 2021 Garden

Those purple beans sure are easy to spot. I may have to try some and see how they do. I planted blue lake or kentucky wonder in the spring (can't remember which). They were good, just didn't put out much. I planted rattlesnakes for the fall. They are starting to climb now. I usually get a good...

What Did You Do In The Garden?

Picked our first tomato of the year! It's not quite ripe, but wanted to get it before the critters did.

    Hello from northeast Texas!

Ain't it though?! I love being out in the garden, listening to nature and thanking God for giving me the ability to be there. So peaceful, well it was until a motorcycle came by playing "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" as loud as he could. Good song, but sure disturbed the serenity, LOL.

    Baymule’s 2021 Garden

It was hot today! 103* heat index. I was sweatin like a dog at 7am this morning. Cleaned out the poop tray in the coop and put out fresh sweet pdz. Checked the garden and pulled off a few yellowing tomato leaves. Picked my first tomato today! Yay! Also a couple more squash. I'll be picking...

    Hello from northeast Texas!

Welcome Wyndsong! What part of NETex are you? I'm just South of I-20 about an hour or so East of Baymule, or there abouts. I got chickens 6-7yrs ago and started gardening after. Had to do something with all that lovely poo! I have RA, so garden in raised beds. Traditional gardening is too...

    Baymule’s 2021 Garden

I love corn. I wish I had room to grow it. Well, I do have room, we have a little over 5 acres, it's just hard for me to do traditional gardening. It would take a big ass raised bed to grow corn. Then I'd have to get a ladder to harvest it! LOL I do use a ladder to get my green beans. :)

    Baymule’s 2021 Garden

Glad you are getting things planted Bay. It's so wet here everything stinks! We were able to get the yard mowed this morning. Had to cut it twice in some places since the bahia is so tough. I've got squash running out of my ears. I should have enough green beans to can in a couple of days. The...

Thanks Bay, that's about what I've got mine at. Some of them are above the top of the cp with several tomatoes scattered throughout. We've gotten 2.7" here so far. Most of it was last night.
