The flowers are used for tea..either dry or fresh. It would be best to wait for them to be in fill bloom before harvesting. There's no known medicinal benefits, so I guess taste is what drives folks to it??
I don't care for dandelion tea, but I am a tea snob and can't stand anything that isn't Lipton.
I'm about to venture out for some crimson clover. Maybe that'll be better. You can freeze the dandelions into ice and add them to a bevarage. My kids love that!
Now dandelion jelly, that is...
While working in the garden today I was giving praisefor the sunlight beating down and the birds chirping away. It was so peaceful. My children were off'rto the side talking about evolution and how it didn't make sense. In the end, they all agreed that only God is capable of such a miracle as...
We've managed to get in our "before last day of frost" crops. My hands are super dry now! O well. I have an herbal solution to take care of it. We'lll be planting again next weekend. Hopefully, everything takes root. We've been praying like crazy over it. I never thought a little seed could...
That's a cute sign!! I love the message! :love
Soil has had me really admiring God here lately. It's so complex and amazing.
We just planted our first seeds of the year; they were "sealed" in with a prayer. In the end, it's the Creator of Life that blesses man's work.
Well, today I was able to plant some lettuce, onion, carrots and some garlic that was given to me. Sealed em' in with a prayer. I'm really nervous about how well they'll all do. After supper, if light permits it, I'm going back out to plant a different variety of lettuce and carrots, and some...
@thistlebloom I'm not going to plant every seed or pack of seeds, lol. But quite a few, yes. I think I could easily out plant a 20x30. I know starting small is the most logical thing bbbuuttttt grow big or don't grow at all??!!! I feel like a kid in a candy store. I've waited so long for this...
We had a box of books go missing, so I filed it with the post office. Three months later I got a slip in the po box telling me I had a package to pick up. I go in the office, sign for the box, pick it up thinking to myself, "what the heck is this? it's mighty light", only to get home and...
@Collector thank you for the encouragement and hearty welcome!!! I'll be planting all this in zone 8.
@thistlebloom awesome!!! You've planted seeds that you're unaware of. ;)
@thistlebloom that is awesome!!! Thank you for sharing!!! :thumbsup Do you have repeat kiddos each year? Do you charge for the classes or do you view it more as, "knowledge is priceless"?
Bummer!! Sorry! Maybe this year will work better? Or another variety?
A garden class for kids is intriguing! I must know more! Do y'all get together weekly? Just plant a garden and study each plant independently?
I brought home another pack of seeds .:hide
My husband just shakes his head.
I'm planning these as backdrop in aaphoto of all my "sweet peas." Thats kiddos. My sweet peas (kiddos) by my sweet peas (flowers). :love
Thanks for the encouragement!!! :love
@thistlebloom it's the truth though, right?;)
@baymule an abundance of squash sounds like a good problem to have! :celebrate
Technically, it's all soil. Not necessarily healthy soil, but soil indeed. If you can make it work for you I tip my hat .I desperately need pointers on clay. What are you able to get to thrive in that environment? My mama has a yard full of it. What's idiot dirt?
