Hahaha, that is what my dog is thinking too. She barks at everything! She'll even get in the tub and bark at the drain hole. She's only 5 months old, a golden retriever, but I am quite certain she is not service dog material. :p

You'd never know if there was really anything out there for crying wolf all the time. Can you sleep through it, Bay? When my chow mix would bark at night, I would jump up and have a heart attack. She only barked when she meant business.

I have given up on any kind of drape or shade on downstair windows. They last a day or 2 before dogs rip them down. Dogs demand clear view of their kingdom.

The dogs can see, hear and smell things we can't. Deer are all over the place, they jump the fence and hang out in the horse lot behind the fence. Two does had their fawns in the horse pasture last year, they have probably told all their friends about the nice "nursery" where the horses babysit for them! The so called pasture is a snarl of trees, brush and green briars, so lots of cover for deer.

So far yes the dogs bark but I've woke up to a dead possum and two dead armadillos. Also two neighbor cats, unfortunately. I'm not sure if the dogs killed any of them or it they got ran over though. From the looks of them except the armadillos I think probably the dogs dispatched them. Of course these are the same two stray dogs that my son rescued and are famous for killing my chickens. We are constantly keeping watch but they are good watch dogs. They are smart though, when the coyotes are close they stay on the porch. I lock them up just before daylight and they stay locked up until the chickens are locked in at night.
