I know a good man who is looking for a good woman. He's been a UPS driver for 24 years, 14 with his own route. He's probably late 40's, thin and energetic. He's originally from FL, but when to HS in Augusta Georgia. He is pleasant looking and loves to talk - he has a great deal of friends from his route. I've learned alot from him over the last 2 years.

He is going to be a good catch because: he's got 3 aussie dogs (Pearl, Sophie and Love Muffin), has over 2 acres dedicated to growing things, owns his own home, has chickens, works hard, quit smoking 3 years ago, and adores his step daughter, Smilie Kylie who is about 20 now.

He grows vegetables for his farm stand which is open on Saturdays. He starts every thing from seeds in a green house and then row plants. He's got over 100 tomatoes planted, along with all kinds of peppers, and other summer veggies. He also grows Kiwi, berries, roses, artichokes, pumpkins and sunflower seeds. He cans, cooks, dehydrates and more.

He's tried dating locals and the on line thing. Mostly what he finds is women who want to play on their cell phones or computers all day. He's looking for someone who likes what he likes and would fit in with his hobbies.

Spread the word that someone is looking for a companion/girlfriend like many of us here! (we're all taken, but there must be more....)

I wonder if he has tried the dating site "Farmers Only"? It looks like they cater to people who love the land, and growing things.

Perhaps we should have a Personals section in the forum where our single members can connect romantically with others who are connected to the land. Ya never know. ;) He sounds like a cool guy. I hope he finds his soul mate.

I looked into that 'Farmers Only' thing once. There is a flaw in the system... Everyone on there is dedicated to their OWN little piece of land and looking for someone to come share it.

Wow @murphysranch we have a neighbor who fits your description only she's a female and 35 yrs. old. Her late husband was killed in the second Iraq war about 10 years ago. She is without a doubt the sweetest gal I know and she just cannot find a guy. All she can meet out here in the boonies are guys who are abusing illegal substances, out for a good one-nighter, loud pickup trucks, hand-me-downs with two or three Xs, or they come with a large amount of baggage. Our little church out here does not have much to offer

There must be a way for these people to meet good friends of the opposite sex without needing a master's degree in psycology to survive the first date. It seems such a shame.

But I also understand how the folks on 'Farmers Only' would want to hold onto their land. In most cases all of a farmer's monetary wealth is in their land and equipment. It would be very hard to give it up for someone who may not stick around.

Well, I thought surely there would be women on there who don't have land, but yearn for the country life and someone to share it with. I can understand how there wouldn't be many guys on there...somehow it seems normal that a guy would have (maybe inherit) a farm, where a gal wouldn't. Our own @canesisters notwithstanding, in my old fashioned ideas, I would have imagined that women wouldn't have the physical strength, or mechanical history to be able to manage a farm single-handedly. Not that I wouldn't be one of those who would give it a try! Most stuff around here I do singlehandedly, anyway. :\

Not always so, so lucky. Many years ago I taught one of two daughters of a farmer just out of town. The older daughter went to college and moved aways a way, but the younger daughter stayed and worked with Dad on the farm. Mom had passed away the year after I taught her.

It's been nearly 40 years since I taught Carol -- she would be about 48 years old by now -- but she is still single and still working the farm she inherited. Last summer I watched her paint the big barn. She still appears to be doing all the work herself. It seemed a tough life to be going it alone.
