Well that's not good news that they don't like being moved. I plan to move 2 of mine into that trough. The third one is looking pathetic so I think I'll just buy a new one to replace it.

We've got one on my dad's farm that is somewhere around 50 years old. It has petered out and doesn't produce well anymore for some reason.

Yes, lots of mulch for those roots!
Journey- It can be brought back with pruning and fertilizer. Cut our 1/3 of the very old branches and add a fertilizer for acid loving plants, or a load of manure.
