Chillin' In The Garden
I planted my second year acidanthera bulbs this past spring. These were second year bulbs that I pulled after their first blooming last fall. I let the foliage die back naturally and was very surprised by their size when I pulled them last fall considering how very small they were when I put them in. They bloomed beautifully last summer. After re-planting this past spring with some bonemeal, they came up nicely and grew very tall, 4 1/2 ft tall, with no signs of flowering yet. It almost looks like they spent all their energy into foliage and not into flowers.
At the same time, I also put in some "new" bulbs, bought this year, and they 're close to being done for the year. They didn't have the height or weren't as robust as those second year bulbs, but they flowered nicely.
Any suggestions?
