A good friend of mine turned me onto it. He is bonkers about his lawn one of those guys who wants it to look like a Scott's tv commercial.

Anyway I looked it up online & it seems like a respectable product and it's not expensive. Anybody using it in their gardens or flower beds? I figured I'd ask here before buying any. And no I don't care what my yard looks like.
My buddy had a lawn mine is a yard BIG difference.

Used it when I lived in Westport for deer repellent. Didn't even slow them down. Lady swore to me was the only thing that worked agaist them.

Unless things have changed, it is not recommended for vegetable gardens, as it is made from sewer sludge. Years ago, when it first became available, it was pretty innovative, being made from Milwaukee sewer sludge, hence the name Milorganite. Maybe the contents are different now?

I didn't know what it was. I have a septic system and a leach field in the back 40, does that count? :p

What @so lucky said!

Jared77, being from Wisconsin -- home of Milorganite -- I say ditto to what the others have said about it. It does work as a semi-slow release fertilizer and is good for light applications on lawns, but it is composed of everything sent to the sewer plant from manufacturing as well as residential. There are no tests done to determine what heavy metals are in the product at what time of year and the product will be different at different times. It is a good, wise use as a sewer by-product, but not good for use on veggie gardens.

I have used it on flower beds, but not for many many years.
