    My 7yo grandson is quite smitten by them and I'm trying to get some ideas.

    I agree, really cute. You could even make a wire handle for it so it be hung from a branch.

    Perhaps a lid with a key hole drawn on it and a 'magic' key hanging from a little chain.

    maybe he will also get interested in the sand art...? building ships in a bottle? etc. :) i had terrariums of carnivorous plants until i moved away to college. and the model railroad. i still daydream at times about an automagic bean sorting train set just because...
