Because of a new driveway I have a large area that is all dirt. I would like to seed it with grass. This is a home I only use a few days a month. I am not looking for a prefect lawn just green. What is the toughtst grass? zone 5 full sunThanks

Try Pennington Signature Series Tall Fescue Blend.
It a mix and is lower maintenance with good heat, drought, disease and insect resistance.

You could also look into Buffalo grass. It's drought tolerant, and rarely grows over 4" tall, so only needs mowing a few times a season.

Thanks guys I think I might try both. Homedepot has the Pennington in stock. I like what I read when I googled Buffalo grass, but think I will have to order it. I do have a guy who cuts the grass every week. Drought tolerant is what appeals to me since most water will be rain.

I'd personally vouch for the buffolo grass, I used it this season when I aerated my lawn using a mechanical aerator rented from a tool rental, and over-seeded my lawn as well. Will post pictures of the lawn in the morning, for you to look at.
