Blueberry and Gooseberry Juice

Seventeen pound of fruit was made into juice. Seven pounds of gooseberry and ten pounds of blueberry were picked from the garden. Twelve litres of juice was obtained. Each litre of juice contains about 1.4 pounds of the mixed fruit. The juice is natural with only water added to thin for drinking and to insure enough liquid for cooking.

I presume you are referring to the gooseberry. Gooseberry are very sweet if allowed to ripen properly. Most people pick them when not ripe due to ignorance. The berries are ripe when they almost fall off the branch when touched. This takes as very long time, maybe two weeks after they are mature green.

Ha! Yes, I only remember picking them green, on a neighbor's property when I was just a sprout. Mom made a rhubarb/gooseberry cobbler that took a LOT of sugar. That was before we knew any better, lol.
