There is an Oriental lily I need to transplant from a tub into the ground that is growing up through the middle of a chives plant. Is it okay to transplant the whole thing right now? Will the chives do okay being transplanted along with the Oriental lily into the ground at this time? I'm in Zone 5, Salt Lake City.

Same question in regards to fragrant purple alyssum. A lily bulb is underneath it. Can I transplant the whole thing right now without forfeiting alyssum flowers? They are soooo pretty and fragrant! I know they are annuals but it will probably be a while before the first hard frost.

Wanna bet? I have two years running, 2011 and 2012. Two and a half to three months of no rain and temperatures above 110 for a few weeks may have had something to do with that. In 2012 I even watered them.

Transplanted both the chives and alyssum yesterday. Both look great!
