Cleaning Water Cooler

I just got a email from poland springs that the water cooler should be cleaned make a appointment. Claimed cleaning kills 99.9 bacteria should be done 2 to 4 times a year . Price is $49.99 a cleaning. I am not going to spend $200 a year having cleaning done. If I add bleach to water then run all water though machine that should kill any bacteria right ?

it's not just bacteria, it all the other stuff that builds up over time...that bleach will not remove..

For the price of 2 cleanings I can buy a brand new cooler. I think i am still a little raw over money after spending $950 on something thats worked for over 10 years

Maybe it’s time to get a couple quotes from other companies and have maintenance included. Just my two cents

To get rid of calcium deposits , you can spray with WD-40 wait a few minutes and wipe and rinse and rinse all residue away, followed by 10%Chlorox and rinse well, followed by a bottle of hydrogen peroxide ( from your pharmacy- used to clean wounds) , rinse well. That should remove the gunk and kill 99.9% of bacteria.

Just get one of your staff to clean it out every 6 months.

wd40? ew! tell me that's a joke...

i could see where something like CLR would be useful, vinegar, ammonia or bleach in extreme cases (don't mix these).

can't ever imagine using wd40...
