creeping thyme

I have several varieties of creeping thyme, and I do use them when I cook, they like heat and fast draining soil, so planted amongst stepping stones would be great.
My favorite is orange thyme which smells citrusy. Theres several varieties and they range in hardiness from zone 4 to 9, so it depends on which one you pick. The citriodorus is only supposed to be hardy to zone 6 but I'm 4ish and I still have it after about four years. But it is in a more protected area of my garden.
Your chickens may leave it as it sort of a pungent herb, but who can tell with chickens....!

Well mine have never spread super fast. But from a 4" pot , which is what they are typically sold in , one plant may double in girth the first season. I'm kinda impatient so I planted my closer together than ideal. If they get crowded and too dense you can always divide.

Winters over here in zone 4, no problem. Not invasive, but does spread. Very easy to divide. Don't worry, this is not mint! I don't cook with mine. I think it will look great between bricks.

My neighbor had some, for some reason after 7 years... a hard freeze came last year and it died?! its supposed to be ever green in the south and perennial.
