Yesterday I got about a gallon and a half of milk from two goats.

I get a lot less at the morning milking than I do in the evenings.

Does anyone know if it is normal to get less milk in the morning?

I always got more in the morning than I did in the evening. Mostly because my goats still had kids nursing as well as my milking and the kids didn't nurse nearly as much during the night. That is my only experience with dairy goats.

Maybe your goats just aren't morning "people". Have you tried giving them a cup of coffee to get them going? It works for me. :caf

:lau Oh, can you imagine? My goats would be knocking down the door at first light looking for their coffee!

I tell 'em, "Get out there and free-range, because it is FREE!" (Nods to OFG....)

Seriously, there are a lot of factors that contribute to the amount of milk one gets at each session on the stand. I only worry about a downward trend over a few days, not one or two milkings.

If my older doe, Mya, hears my dh's voice, she gives an extra pint....I can sell recordings to those who want them, it would be a nice side business. I'll save up for another goat.

Hahaha I'll have to try that out on my Bonnie and Ginger next year. They both adore my husband, even though he doesn't do anything with them. I'm the one who feeds them, and they could care less about me...Maybe he needs to milk those two!

Grandma said that the nice thing about milking was that she could put the preacher right on his knees when she shook hands with him. It do give you a powerful grip.
