Visiting a friend in the country, it was observed that he had a three wire electric fence around his vegetable gardens. It was three wire about three feet high using copper welding wire on plastic posts. They were plagued with deer, raccoons and rabbits. Apparently it gave 100% protection. The device operated on a 12 volt battery and was a typical electric fence device. Before I could capture my little dog, she touched it and jumped back. Later in the day when walking to the garden, she absolutely refused to go near the fence.

I use an electric fence to keep my horses in. One mare just wants to visit the neighbors horses no matter what. I just have to use it for a few days and then will not need to turn it on again for months before she figures out that it is off. I have had the same one for 30 years I bet.
