Fried green tomatoes~how do you make em~

I LOVE FRIED GREEN TOMATOES! I slice mine into a bowl of cold water. When I have them all sliced, I take each slice from the water, shake off the excess and dredge in cornmeal. I do each slice until all are done. Then I fry them in an iron skillet on medium high. I place them on paper towels on a plate. Salt, eat, enjoy! and go back for seconds!

We do a flour cornmeal combo on ours and I've even dipped them in buttermilk prior to that for good measure. Make sure your oil is hot before you lay that mater in it, but not too hot as they can get a singed flavor. You'll know when it's right...those slices will come out golden brown and crispy.

It helps to season your dredge if you want the seasoning to really hold on the mater.
