A few years ago there was an infestation of an imported pest in Florida that was endangering the citrus industry. They went so far as to cut down trees in the yards of homeowners by state mandate. I do not know if they inspected the trees or just cut them just in case.

According to the organic orange grove owner I spoke to today, it's still a problem. The insecticides help in some ways, but it's not eliminated the issue. But the insect, a psyllid from Asia, is not a problem in California. And, to be frank, I'm far more concerned about bees' survival than a few lost oranges. :hide

From what I've gathered, it's only illegal for nurseries to sell to Florida, it's not illegal to bring plants into Florida if they are not being sold. :hu
